The Lake Ontario Wine Trail is thrilled to announce their newest member of the trail, Silver Waters Wine. Silver Waters Winery is a small, family-run winery located just north of Rt. 104 on State Street in Sodus, NY. Brand-new to the scene, they produce wines using traditional family methods and modern wine-making science. They feature red, white, fruit and flower wines using only the freshest, local fruit grown by friends and neighbors.
The owner and winemaker, Tom VanKouwenberg, has been making wine for over 30 years, starting with dandelion wine with his grandfather when he was a teenager. Since then, he has received a degree in Viticulture and Wine Science, and makes a variety of wines from grapes, fruit and flowers. “In our new tasting room I am looking forward to sharing our wines with old friends and new. I love to have people taste something they have never had before, which is what they can expect from some of the small-batch specialty wines we produce,” Tom, owner.
The Lake Ontario Wine Trail has been in operation for just over a decade, spanning from the east side of Rochester over to Fair Haven, NY. “I love being a part of the Lake Ontario Wine Trail. It’s a great opportunity to visit wineries, cideries and distilleries that are off the well-beaten paths of the Finger Lakes without compromising on quality. We’re excited to have add a member to our group!” Audrey Allen, Event Coordinator & Social Media liaison for Lake Ontario Wine Trail.
The Lake Ontario Wine Trail prides itself with providing a diverse selection of not only wines, but ciders and spirits as well from our 9 full member locations. The Lake Ontario Wine Trail kicks off its 2022 season with its first event, Roll Out the Barrels on April 23rd & 24th. More information can be found at www.lakeontariowinetrail.com.
Silver Waters Winery is currently open Thursday-Saturday, 10am-6pm. Located at 7386 State Street, Sodus NY 14551.
